Born in a bedroom in Mission, British Columbia, Western Jaguar is the ever-evolving musical endeavour of multi-instrumentalist, Jeffrey C. Trainor.

Taking influence from artists such as Death Cab For Cutie, DIIV and Band Of Horses, Western Jaguar’s sonic footprint casts a wide net, incorporating elements of indie rock, dream pop, shoegaze and power pop within his signature sound. Heralded for his “signature, reverb heavy guitars, throbbing bass and high voltage percussion,” [Eclectic Music Lover, 2019] Western Jaguar’s sound has drawn comparison to artists such as Nada Surf, The Twilight Sad, Night Travelers and Real Estate.

Western Jaguar won a 2019 Fraser Valley Music Award in the “Live Performer Of The Year” category and has built a reputation for authentic, intimate and spirited live performances. This aware showcases that Western Jaguar excels far beyond just the recording medium. Western Jaguar has performed over 80 times throughout Western Canada in the projects history.

Western Jaguar has released 4 independent albums over the course of his existence. The most recent release, Oblivion, has gained acclaim from various places and platforms. The album’s lead single “Better Daze” was heralded as “a portrait of loss and destruction; rich in sound and pain” [Permanent Rain Press, 2023], while the album’s third single “Darling” reached #1 on the Eclectic Music Lover’s “Top 30 Songs Of The Week” list and was rated the #24 song for the entirety of 2023 [Eclectic Music Lover, 2023]. Furthermore, Oblivion was ranked as the 76th best record of 2023 by Gannon Hanevold [Gannon Hanevold, 2023].
